That trendy, creative buzz

It’s no secret that the media; advertising; and communications industries are constantly on the move, innovating and redefining themselves by their very essence. As an example of this, in the last few years we’ve noted an increase in the popularity of ‘elder bloggers’; ‘Generation G’; and ‘CSA’. Any idea what I’m talking about? If not, best you read my article. The point is, you have to keep your finger on the pulse if your purpose in life is entertaining others and building brands. Creatives are often seen as the ‘scary set’, the type that buzzes around on a constant caffeine high, sprouting detailed mind maps of random ideas, and how to link ‘this idea’ to ‘that concept’. It’s the nature of the game.
And part and parcel with this is trends. I love reading Dion Chang’s monthly Flux Trends e-newsletter, where he focused on one new trend per sense, often with catchy new high-tech ideas behind the research, such as ‘niche tribes’; ‘the ‘pick and mix’ society’; and perfume vending machines. Lots of lovely ideas for marketers and advertisers to latch onto!

I’ll leave you on that note, as you ponder our ever-changing world – please leave a comment below if you have come across other interesting new terms and trends.
